Frequently Asked Questions

What does my Farmhouse Delivery Membership include?

Membership includes a weekly or bi-weekly delivery of fresh, local produce or a weekly delivery of Supper Club meal kits. You can also add any of our local dairy, meat, baked goods or pantry staples to your order.

Additionally, members receive invitations to special events and learning opportunities like cooking classes, farm visits, and access to a wealth of recipes on our website.

Where does the produce come from?
Always Texas, no exceptions. Most come from farms within 150 miles of Austin. We venture a little farther out for specialty items like citrus, avocados, apples and mangoes. Even so, we stay within the great state of Texas!

What is the cost of membership?

There is a one-time $20 fee.

How many people does a bushel serve?

The Large Bushel should serve 3-4, and the Medium Bushel should serve 1-2 people.

Do you deliver to me?

If you live in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, or Dallas we probably do! Search by zip code to verify. If your home address isn't currently part of our delivery area, your office might be and we're happy to deliver there.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes! All orders over $40 receive free delivery.  Orders under $40 will be charged a $4.99 delivery fee.

Which credit cards do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards.

Do you deliver to offices or apartments?

Absolutely! Just make sure we have your gate codes or any special instructions.

What if I'm not at home when you deliver?

Your deliveries will be packed in plastic bins with ice packs, and any especially sensitive items are insulated with additional ice packs. You may also leave an iced cooler outside, and we can easily transfer the items in your bushel into your cooler. Please be sure to contact customer service to leave a note indicating that the driver should transfer your items to the cooler.

Can I choose the items in my produce bushel?

Farmhouse Bushels are comprised of the freshest seasonal fruits and veggies that Texas farms have to offer. Bushel offerings change weekly.

You can designate up to 3 vegetable dislikes on your account. When you're signed in, go to 'My Account' and select 'Acct. Options.' Click the link to ‘Modify Your Personal Information’ and choose your vegetable dislikes. For any additional produce/dietary preferences, please email our customer service team at info@farmhousedelivery.com and we will add long-standing notes to your account. To personalize your bushel from week to week, you can leave notes for our pack room in the order notes section for each delivery.

What else do you deliver?

We offer a variety of meat and poultry cuts, farm-fresh dairy and eggs, artisan baked goods, pantry staples and some prepared foods. You can add them to your order just once or with every delivery. Visit our market page and add your selections anytime.

What is the deadline to change my order or delivery?

The order deadline is 10am two days before your delivery day. Your order cutoff time is reflected on the Shopping Cart page next to the 'Totals' column for easy reference.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can put your orders on hold or cancel at any time for any reason, as long as it is done via phone or email at least 48 hours before your delivery day.

What does 'satisfaction guaranteed' mean?

We do everything we can to ensure that you are completely satisfied with your order. If you aren't completely satisfied, please let us know within 14 days of your delivery (info@farmhousedelivery.com) and our customer service team will happily make it right. From replacement product to an account credit or a refund, we will process it as soon as we receive it because we want to make sure you are taken care of!

What about the bins?

Your fresh produce comes in plastic bins, which we reuse. Please leave the empty bin outside on your next scheduled delivery day, and the driver will make the exchange. We also reuse as much of the packing materials (ice bottles, egg cartons, shredding) as possible. If those items are salvageable, please leave them in the empty bin.

How is this different from a CSA?

Farmhouse Delivery offers more variety, flexibility and convenience than a typical Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Because we source from many different farms, we can offer a broader variety of produce throughout the growing season. Unlike a CSA, you do not have to pay for the season up front, and you can skip a delivery or alter your schedule as needed. You only pay for the deliveries you receive. You can also customize each delivery and let us know which fruits and veggies best satisfy your needs. Best of all, we come to you!

When will my turkey be delivered?

Your delivery day will be determined by your zip code and our observed holiday schedule. If you are new to the site, please click the JOIN NOW button on the Farmhouse Delivery home page to access our zip code locator tool. Holiday deliveries will occur between 11/14-11/22. You can either elect to receive delivery on a regular service day from 11/14-11/17 or from 11/19-11/22 (days determined by our holiday schedule).

What farm will my turkey come from?

This year we are partnering with 3 different farms; Your Texan turkey will be making it’s way to us from either:

Parker Creek, Natural Champion, or Whitehurst Heritage

Is my turkey organic?

You can trust that your turkey from Farmhouse delivery is 100% locally sourced and pasture- raised. Because we deal with small family farms, many cannot afford the lengthy and expensive USDA organic certification process. While not USDA certified organic, our standards for

humane treatment, adherence to organic farming practices, and quality meet and exceed those of larger, certified-organic competitors.

How do I thaw my turkey and how long will it take?

There are 2 methods you can use, you can either thaw the turkey in your refrigerator (RECOMMENDED) or in an ice bath if you are pressed for time.

REFRIGERATOR THAWING

Thaw breast side up, in an unopened wrapper on a tray in the fridge.

Allow at least 1 day of thawing for every 4 lbs.

COLD WATER THAWING

Thaw breast side down, in an unopened wrapper, with enough cold water to cover your turkey completely.

Change water every 30 minutes to keep the turkey chilled.

Estimate a minimum thawing time of 30 minutes per lb.

Will my turkey arrive frozen?

Yes, your Thanksgiving turkey will arrive frozen to ensure your holiday bird maintains a safe temperature during it’s journey to you.. All turkey deliveries arriving between the date of 11/14-11/19 will arrive frozen solid. Any turkeys arriving between 11/20-11/22 will be subject to a “pre-thaw” process to save you time & stress closer to the holiday. Please note that even with delivery 11-19-11/22, you will still need to allot ample time to thaw your turkey.

How do I request a specific size of turkey?

After your turkey deposit has been processed, you will receive an email with a link to a Google Form. Please submit any special weight requests for your Turkey via that link.

My plans have changed and I no longer need my turkey. Can I have a refund?

All turkey deposits are NON-refundable once they have been processed. Please do not place a deposit in your cart unless you are sure you want a turkey. If you wish to cancel a turkey deposit before it has been billed, please contact our Customer Care team immediately.  If you need to cancel a turkey order, please submit your cancel request at 10am 2 days prior to delivery day.

What size turkey should I get? How many people will __lbs of turkey feed?

Whether you are feeding a large or small crowd, we recommend allotting 1 lb to 1.5 lbs of turkey per diner. Estimating at 1.5 lbs per person will ensure that there are leftovers to go around

If I get my deliveries at my office, can I have a holiday delivery sent to my house?

Since different offices have different holiday schedules, we want to hear from you about what would work best. For Thanksgiving, if delivery to your office will not work, please let us know if you would prefer to receive a delivery to your home. If so, your delivery address will need to be updated 72 hours prior to delivery and then changed back to the office after the holiday.

What if my delivery day is Thursday/ Friday, how will I get my holiday order?

You can either elect to receive delivery the week before Thanksgiving on 11/16-11/17 or on 11/21-11/22  when we observe our holiday schedule.
